Do you know what makes your heart sing?

Do you know what you want? Do you know what makes your heart sing? There are many people who are confused, stuck, lost or believe that they don’t know what they want. Perhaps some people do not even know that they aren’t even aware that they don’t know what they really want. Sitting in confusion sometimes may serve a purpose, if we are confused about what we want we really don’t have to take responsibility for our lives. There is always a goal behind every goal. The key is to be able distinguish the goal behind the goal.
Did you know that we actually do know exactly what we want? The answers are just within us, we spend a lot of time searching high and low, here there and everywhere but we forget to just look within. We assume that figuring this out is really hard or a difficult journey which may require a great deal of effort. We are simply very good at hiding what we want from ourselves so they we can go on being confused or whatever it is that we do.
“Follow your heart, listen to your inner voice, stop caring about what others think.” ~ Roy. T Bennett
Listen to your heart, it is your compass so definitely do not ignore it. There is always something inside telling us how we are connecting with what we are doing. It has our best interest so make sure you stop and pause when you are experiencing those moments when you are truly happy. Your body guides you all the time, we just haven’t been trained to listen to it.
“Trust your intuition. You don’t need to explain or justify your feelings to anyone, just trust your own inner guidance, it knows best.” ~ Anon
How do you figure out what you really want?
Set the intention
You can figure out what it is that you really want by first creating the intention to do so. You never know when the moment will arise and it will come to you. You may have a light bulb moment; most people usually aren’t aware of what they really want because they simply have never paid attention. Through observation you can start to explore and answer the question what do I really enjoy doing? Once you begin to become present, you will start to see what you enjoy and what you don’t enjoy.
“You know the truth, by the way it feels.” ~Anon
Ask family or friends
Our friends or family members who know us well and have our best intention at heart would know what we really enjoy doing most. Get curious and ask the people in your life, don’t just ask adults, ask the children too. Usually children don’t hold back and they don’t dwell on what they want to say. Children are a great source of authentic answers.
Flip it
Another way to figure out what you really want is by looking at what you really don’t like. Once you have figured that out, you can flip it. For instance; a client didn’t like being told what to do, so she realised she enjoyed being free; therefore, working for herself made so much sense. Another client didn’t enjoy working in noisy environments, so he realised he enjoyed being in quieter and calmer working environments. When you observe something, you don’t enjoy note it down and flip it, then you can start to experiment.
Intuition
Your intuition can guide you during this journey. Listen to it. Do not dismiss it. Your body is always communicating to you through you so take note. Check in with yourself and observe what is going on inside. There are many myths out there about intuition. Some people believe that your intuition is something that needs to be an AHA moment, something magnificent and big. However, it may be a nudge, a whisper, a flutter, a knot or perhaps something you cannot describe. You can develop your intuition and you do this by acting on it.
Intuition is a spiritual faculty and does not explain, but simply points the way.” ~ Florence Scovel Shinn
Creating Space
Create a space for what you want to show up into your life. One way to do this is by giving to others, giving is one way which demonstrates trust and surrenders to life itself. By giving to others we are demonstrating that we truly trust that there is enough for everyone. What comes with giving is receiving, it is inevitable as this there is balance in nature. When we trust life and the process of life, what we truly want begins to show up with ease. When there is no resistance there simply is flow. It is crucial to know and practice being open to receiving. When you allow yourself to receive from others this naturally begins to create balance.
Detach from the outcome
It is imperative for us to remember that what we want may come to us in a different form at a different time than our original choice. It is imperative that we let go and again simply trust the process and surrender to life! Surrendering to life doesn’t mean letting go and hoping everything will work out on its own. We are still required to take the necessary actions to reach our goals. Our actions may be small or even perhaps tiny, however any action forward is movement ahead. Action comes first, then the feeling follows. We cannot sit and wait to be great at something before we are ready to start it.
So the question is do you know what makes you really happy? Do you know what you truly want in life? What is in the way of you figuring it out?
And remember
